The World Bowls Series ranking list has a new female ranked No 1.
Australia’s Dawn Hayman clinches the top spot as the countdown to the first-ever World Bowls Series grand finals (December 9-13) hots up.
Following her success winning the Australian Open women’s singles backed up finishing runner-up in the Australia Indoor Championships, she claims the coveted position with 674 points.
New Zealand’s young gun Briar Atkinson and recently-crowned World Bowls champion of champions silver medallist Debbie White join the top 10.
Theres 172 points separating the top 10 in the women’s list which sees five countries represented in spots 1-10 – Australia with four players – Chloe Stewart (No 2), Olivia Cartwright (No 4) and inaugural No 1 Kelsey Cottrell (No 5) joining Hayman, New Zealand three – Selina Goddard (No 3), Briar Atkinson (No 9) and Debbie White (No 10), and Malaysia’s Nurul Alyani Binh Jimil (No 6), England’s Emily Kernick (No 7) and Canada’s Kelly McKerihen (No 8) one each.
Unlike the female list, there’s little change in the men’s list.
Scotland’s Jason Banks, quadruple World Bowls Tour title winner, continues to reign supreme with 915 points – 215 clear of his nearest rival, World Bowls Indoor Championship gold medallist Australia’s Jack McShane.
England’s Dominic McVittie, gold medal winner at the European mixed pairs championships, jumps from 18th to seventh with 592 points, while Malaysia’s Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple takes 10th spot.
There’s 394 points between Banks and Dzulkeple with the top 10 players representing five countries. Australia – Jack McShane (No 2), Corey Wedlock (No 3), Lee Schraner (No 6) and Cohen Litfin (No 9), Scotland – Jason Banks (No 1), Iain McLean (No 4) and Stewart Anderson (No 8), Wales – Ross Owen (No 5), England – Dominic McVittie (No 7) and Malaysia – Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple (No 10).
The latest ranking list features the results from seven events – Bowls England National Finals, Welsh Lawn Bowls Championships, Australian Indoor Championships, Canadian Lawn Bowls Championships, European Mixed Pairs Championship, Japan Cup and World Bowls champion of champions.
The first ever World Bowls Series finals will be staged at cluBarham, New South Wales, Australia.
The event – a showcase of bowls featuring a star-studded line-up of players from around the globe who have excelled in WBS ranked events – will be staged from December 9-13.
The players eligible to attend will be those who are ranked in the Top 10 of the female and male rankings as of October 31, 2025. A further two female and male players will be given special exemptions based on their ranking and their performances in sanctioned events in November 2025.
The remaining events to be included in the ranking list include the USA National Championships, BPL22 at Pine Rivers, Australia, and the Scottish International Open at West Lothian IBC.
ABOUT THE WBS RANKINGS
The World Bowls Series, launched in 2024, is the official year-long calendar of sanctioned events connecting to the official world rankings. It is a joint venture between World Bowls and Tier 5 Ventures. The sanctioned events occur across the globe and will feature a mixture of existing and new events.
The 2025 calendar sees 30 sanctioned events. Each WBS event will belong to a different tier having different ranking points based on the size, location, and stature it presents for the sport.
The purpose of WBS is to build the profile and brand of bowls, showcase the best players in the game and increase their earnings potential, accelerate the legitimacy of the sport on the global stage and launch world rankings that will help create clarity and interest in the sport of bowls.
There have so far been four men’s No 1 ranked players – Aron Sherriff (Australia), Izzat Shameer Dzukelple (Malaysia), Stewart Anderson and Jason Banks for Scotland, while having enjoyed kudos as women’s No 1’s are Kelsey Cottrell (Australia), Kelly McKerihen (Canada), Nor Farah Ain Abdullah (Malaysia), Emily Kernick (England) and Dawn Hayman (Australia)
