What We Do
The World Bowls Series (WBS) is a year-long calendar of sanctioned events attached to the official World Bowls rankings.
The most important piece for the future, is for the game to attempt to grow. The sport must build and commercialise some of its assets – all for the longer-term benefit of members and our world class bowlers.
WBS will commence in 2024 and a minimum of twenty-nine (29) sanctioned events. In 2025, we envisage there to be over thirty-five (35) sanctioned events.
Each WBS event will belong to a different tier based on the size, location and stature it presents for the game of bowls.
The Vision for the World Bowls Series
- Our objective is to expand the sport into new markets and drive the growth of content, events, player profiles and participation across the globe.
- We are launching the World Bowls Series and World Rankings system to transform the sport for a new global audience.
- Our Vision for 2025 is to sanction 8 platinum events including four Majors (USA, British/UK, Australian and Asian Opens), and a further 15 gold events.
- These initiatives and activities directly align to the World Bowls Strategic Plan under the “Building Value” pillar.
