Nestled 303km north-west of Sydney in Australia is the City of Dubbo where the world richest Four’s bowls event was completed last week.

The Inland Petroleum City of Dubbo Fours attracted 172 bowlers from around the World and offered $120,000 in prize money.

42 teams participated in the event, which was held from 24th – 26th September, 2024.  The first two days was full of action as players battled within their sections playing on three immaculate grass greens.

The City of Dubbo Fours was a World Bowls Series (WBS) Silver sanctioned event with the winners being Australian squad members Ben Twist, Nathan Black, Joey Clark and Jack McShane and they were crowned “The 2024 City of Dubbo Fours champions”.

World Bowls, CEO, Neil Dalrymple teamed with World Bowls, President Darryl Clout, Irene Attard and Club Dubbo Chair, Tony Spiers and was very complimentary of this event, “Congratulations to Club Dubbo, to their Board, staff, sponsors and all the volunteers for again staging this event. The competition was of a very high standard and it was terrific to see such a mix of players from around Australia and even a team from Fiji. Having more quality events like this one on the WBS calendar will give all players from around the world an opportunity to gain ranking points and improve their standing in the rankings list.”

World Bowls Series is the official year-long calendar of sanctioned events connecting to the official world rankings. It is a joint venture between World Bowls and Tier 5 Ventures. The sanctioned events occur across the globe and feature a mixture of existing and new events.

WBS currently has 29 sanctioned events. Each WBS event belong to a different tier having different ranking points based on the size, location, and stature it presents for the sport.

The purpose of WBS is to build the profile and brand of bowls, showcase the best players in the game, accelerate the legitimacy of the sport on the global stage and launch world rankings that will help create clarity and interest in the sport of bowls.
