Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Canada, Switzerland, England and Scotland all now feature in the women’s top 10 of the World Bowls Series rankings, while the men’s top 10 sees Australia, Malaysia, Scotland, Ireland, Wales and England leading the field.

As the latest rankings are revealed, in the women’s list Malaysia’s Nor Farrah Abdullah is one of the biggest climbers following her success in the World Bowls Indoor Championships in Guernsey jumping from ninth when the rankings were launched to third behind Australia’s Kelsey Cottrell, who holds on to number one spot, and New Zealand’s Tayla Bruce now in second.

Australia Open women’s singles winner Laura Butler is on the move – she jumps from 28 to join the top 10 at number eight, while Kiwi Leeane Poulson comes in at 12th after her success in the ladies’ pairs at the Lion City Cup in Singapore.

Six times winner of the Australian Open men’s singles – current holder Aron Sherriff maintains his leaderboard position, while Izzat Dzulkeple, Malaysia, is now second, and Scotland’s Stewart Anderson third.

Ray Pearce, Australia, now finds himself on the verge of the top 10 as he climbs to 11th after his success in the Indoor Championship and Australian Open, while Iain McLean’s triumph in Bowls Scotland’s men’s singles earns him 21st place. Elmer Abatayo from the Philippines jumps from 29th to 12th after his success at the Lion City Cup in Singapore.

World Bowls Series is the official year-long calendar of sanctioned events connecting to the official world rankings. It is a joint venture between World Bowls and Tier 5 Ventures. The sanctioned events occur across the globe and will feature a mixture of current and new events.

WBS currently has 29 sanctioned events. Each WBS event will belong to a different tier based on the size, location, and stature it presents for the game of bowls.

The purpose of WBS is to build the profile and brand of bowls, showcase the best players in the game, accelerate the legitimacy of the sport on the global stage and launch world rankings that will create clarity, and interest in the sport of bowls.

The next ranking event is the Bowls England Aviva National Finals currently being staged at the home of the 2022 Commonwealth Games at Victoria Park, Royal Leamington Spa.
